Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor Parish Council

Proposal for “20’s Plenty” zones

20mph Zones

Speeding in our village is one of the main concerns raised by residents, so the parish council formed a Speeding Working Group to look at measures such as 20’s Plenty, signage around the school exit point on Faringdon Road, the possibility of installing ANPR cameras and further pedestrian crossings.  Following the results of a survey conducted during August and September  last year (results shown further down this post) KBS Parish Council applied to Oxfordshire County Council for the introduction of 20mph on three stretches of road:

  1. Hanney Road from the crossroads going south to the end of the 30mph zone
  2. Draycott, Road, Blandy Avenue and Laurel Drive
  3. The A415 between Frax Close and the A420

The county council has recently advised that it doesn’t consider the stretch of the A415 to be suitable for 20mph (reasons not provided), but will be taking forward the other two areas, starting with further consultation.  In the meantime the long awaited wig-wag lights signalling 20mph at the school path exit on Faringdon Road during key periods have finally been installed.

Results of the survey (information about which was published in the August and September editions in KBS News and posted on Facebook).
